A goodbye to one of my best teammates and best friends

Half of Quetzalcoatl is probably cheering at this post if they read it, but that doesn't matter. Last night was Invictus' first real attempt, thought out, planned attempt of a CoP Dynamis. I've worked this strategy out for quite some time. Laid out my own personal maps. Figured out where I can cut corners and where I can't. Last night was the test.

When we got there I was so nervous, esp when the ??? was at the monument and not one of the nearby locations. After that, on my way back, I had them pull the first dragon. The dragons are more of a mess than the mega boss lol. Especially the Heavy Stomp and Body Slam ones. Alot of the team was unprepared, as was I, but we persevered through it. I had a strategy laid out to pull Avitaras, Barong, Fleshfeaster, Taraesca, and Kuschel (sp on all those lol) By the time we got to my last one, which was Kuschel, time was low. Thinking we were going to lose anyways, we pulled Apocalyptic Beast as it ran by. Went down quickly with little or no problems, Thornsong being Dispellable (thank GOD). So we went farming after the win^^ Managed to get a BLM belt and a DRG belt. Probably 70ish coins. Not bad. More than I thought we'd get lol.

Anyways. During that one of my best friends and co-leader of Invictus logs on to say he has an announcement. After the win, he comes on and states he's leaving the game. He's not sure why, he doesn't have a real reason. But he's leaving.

I was a bit upset with it. I had opened up a spot on our 36/36 roster for him to come, he logged out prematurely so i called the said person back to the run. I was upset. He had promised he'd make it ; ;

I searched Peregrine later and he was in North Gustaberg. Nekoi sent me a tell asking if I could at least come to the graveyard of DFK (which I was never a part of). I silently made my way there, getting spammed with tells of support and questions about the direction of Invictus. Several members also made their way to the resting place of DFK. It's a very somber event. It was kind of nostalgic though, seeing Nekoi, Whitecloud, Durandarte... then many Invictus members showing up to say goodbye. Daveman waddled up that hill, Masa, Kaleia, Duffman... Reishu few others. It means alot to see this kind of support when the generalized opinion of my good friend Peregrine is negative. Alot of people only know him as the drama instigator of QCDN. My friends and my lsmates know him as so much more than that. He always found a way to make me smile or support what I was doing. He got me into Dynamis, he gave me tips on thief. He was my role model when I was a lower level thief in KoB.

I'm in CK and alot of them try to tell me that its a good thing he's leaving. They said the server will breathe a sigh of relief. These are all people who generally never knew him at the personal level.

The thing about Peregrine that most people don't understand is that he plays this game for the people in it. And he has a very important point. Your gear, your Ridills, your Adaberks. While they look nice and put out effective stats within the game, they don't compare to having someone who will make you smile when you are feeling down or upset. When Peregrine assails people on QCDN, generally its for 1 of 2 reasons. Firstly, he judges your character as one of greed and manipulation rather than one of caring about your fellow members. I'll demonstrate in this example. My linkshell leader Anaeran was one of the last 5 osodes our linkshell has obtained in CK. He's the leader, yet he allowed his members to feel the benefits ahead of himself. That to me means a lot. Quality person. Non-greed seeking. Etc. Secondly, he hates to see people who belittle other people. I once made the comment as I was pushing for CoP Dynamis in my shell (that looking back on it was completely unacceptable) that "Anyone who doesn't have Promyvions done is a joke" and I was railed for the comment.

As much as everyone hates him on the forum, theres a big chance that you've rubbed him the wrong way if you've been met by him with aggression. He's 90% more caring about the people in the game than the majority of the server, and I personally am going to take this as a huge loss.

I'm leaving my blog at this, at these comments. Just know that I'm hurting right now at the loss of a really good friend within the game.

To Invictus members: I'm working on picking things up and keeping it going. I have many of you who I can't afford to let down. You've all put so much into this shell, I can't see you walk away empty handed as long as I'm capable.

Keep in touch with me Pere. You know how to reach me, and Zylia will still be around if you ever find time to return. :)

We'll miss you Pere!
